Kintsugi translates to Golden joinery which refers to an ancient style of repairing something broken usually in pottery with gold, making the weak points more beautiful and stronger perhaps than before in some cases.
Can pain allow us to treat the body as Kintsugi artists would repair a vase? Can we allow ourselves to listen enough to what pain is saying and help it repair in a way that makes our body stronger and with more dimension?
I believe we can, with one caveat. The artist is not the Practitioner, the Practitioner and their work (acupuncture, massage, personal trainer) is a tool in the tool box, the artist is the patient. It is not the job of one Practitioner to “fix someone” more the job of the patient to strengthen and repair themselves with the help of therapies, paying attention and hard work. Sometimes this requires time, energy and know how we don’t have yet and that is when we can find help through Acupuncture, massage, training and education. Sometimes we need to lower the pain and stress signals in our body before we can move forward in our healing, practitioners can help with this.
It is important to remember all things working together can create stronger mental, physical and emotional state. We must be active participants in our health, healing and rebuilding.
